Douglas Graham’s award-winning career spans over 40 years with work published in well over 150 publications as a staff and freelance photographer. He has covered national and international news, national politics, professional and olympic level sporting events. Early in Graham’s career he was named Newspaper Photographer of the Year and Wildlife Photographer of the Year both in the State of Virginia. He also was a member of the staff that won the W.S. Copeland Award for community journalism and that same year the Virginia Press Association Sweepstakes Award. During Graham’s time with the Economist in Washington he was on the staff at Roll Call newspaper that won the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for Distinguished Reporting of Congress. In 2018 he was named as part of the staff that won the National Gold ADDY for design with an America’s Routes brochure and later that year he won “Best in Show” for news photography by the Virginia Press Association. In 2019 Graham shared two prestigious awards with Jay Korff of ABC News for their work on the America’s Routes project. The duo shared a Edward R. Murrow award for “Excellence in Video” and also an Emmy award for the story “The Long Road Home.” Graham has called Loudoun and Clarke County’s home for the past 33 years.
